I’ve been where you’re at… My stepfamily experience started in 1991, when I began dating my husband – I had a seven year old boy, and his daughter was five. We married when they were nine and seven, and I had the common, unrealistic expectation that we were creating “the perfect family of four”.
Boy, looking back on it, we hit some very tough walls: two mini-families, each with its own strong relationships and developed lifestyle patterns, and “my kid vs. your kid” when it came to their sibling spats, discipline issues and more. We had serious issues with one of the parents in the other home, and suffered the pain of a teen who left home over stepfamily issues, not to return for more than a year…
Long story short: Over ten years of really hard work, clawing our way through stepfamily issues, we began to have a family that worked well together in its own way, and is very happy. Now, after 20 years, we have great relationships all around, including with both of our ex-spouses.

When our kids were in college I earned my coaching certificate with the Stepfamily Foundation (I later received my Master Coach certification); I learned from the best in the field, including Jeannette Lofas, PhD and the National Stepfamily Resource Center. I’m the Az Chapter Leader for National Stepfamily Day Foundation, and a faculty member of the Ben Franklin Institute, training therapists in stepfamily dynamics. I stay on top of current research and literature in this field, and am frequently invited to be a guest on radio shows (Believe, Susan Swanson on Step, the Cutting Edge etc.)

Armed with a Masters in psychology, a strong background in personal development tools and practice, and as a coach with uniquely powerful techniques, I’ve dedicated myself to shortening the learning curve for other stepfamilies, so they don’t have to suffer from the pitfalls that I did.

Now I work exclusively with stepfamilies like you – and bring my wide variety of training in human development (Reiki, Heart Awakening, NLP tools, The Landmark Education Program, the Pursuit of Excellence, and the Truwell Technology, which I’ve refined to get remarkable results).

Being only one woman, I wanted to find a way to reach out to more stepfamilies. That’s why I created The Stepfamily Success Course.
